Here’s a very interesting article from today’s Observer about procrastination.
I always think of the Procrastination courses that the Students Advice Service used to run at Goldsmiths. Sign up early, was the caveat, because these courses are popular and fill up quickly. I thought the early birds should be gently told they didn’t have a serious problem, and the places should have been kept for the panic-stricken students who phoned at the last minute to beg for a space…
But the inability to start is no laughing matter; it doesn’t so much crush talent as simply stop it from ever appearing. Those of us who suffer from it [and I think we all do at least sometimes] hate it, but we probably know where it comes from, and just need a bit of motivational help to get over it…
